New Program at the Faculty of Theology: Helping Professions in Civil Society

We are excited to announce the opening of the new postgraduate master’s program Helping Professions in Civil Society, offering a unique opportunity for graduates of bachelor's programs in social work and related fields.

This program is designed for graduates of bachelor’s degree programs in helping professions. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to develop civil society in the role of helping professions at the level of organizations, municipalities, and public administration in an international context.

Program Details:

  • Form of Study: Full-time
  • Type of Study: Postgraduate Master’s
  • Length of Study: 2 years
  • Language: English
  • Maximum Number of Admitted Students: 15 (The program will only be opened if more than 5 applicants are accepted)
  • Application Submission Deadline: By June 4, 2025
  • Application Fee: CZK 700 (paid electronically)
  • Tuition Fee: CZK 20,000 per each commenced semester of study

Verification of English language proficiency and competencies for thesis processing: Online test of General Academic Prerequisites in English by Scio (www.scioexams.com) conducted between September 1, 2024, and  June 5, 2025.
• The applicant must independently register for the test through the Scio company's web interface by the deadline set by Scio.
• The applicant must give Scio consent to provide the test results to the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Faculty of Theology.
• Based on the test results, Scio will determine the ranking of applicants

  • Key social science theories, including their historical development and philosophical foundations.
  • Application and adaptation of social science theories and research methods for work in helping organizations.
  • Knowledge of ethics and religions, and competencies for ethically and culturally competent decision-making.
  • Intercultural communication, global competencies, and the use of modern technologies in helping professions.

  • Non-profit organizations: Working with local communities, providing social services, humanitarian and development aid.
  • Public administration: Supporting the development of local communities, social policy, and promoting civic engagement.
  • Consulting: Community development, working with families, helping people access services and community resources.
  • Coordination of comprehensive assistance: Community work, involvement in social and political actions, international aid and development.
  • Cultural sphere and public service: Non-governmental, non-profit sector, churches, and religious organizations, where a thorough understanding of broader contexts is required.
