Form of study | Full-time / part-time study |
Title |
Master (Mgr.) |
Duration of study | 2 years |
Employment possibilities of the graduate |
Graduates find wide professional employment in churches and congregations, social institutions and state administration. A degree in Theology is a prerequisite in the Catholic Church for acceptance as a deacon and for priestly service, and employment in lay pastoral care. In the social sphere, graduates can find employment as experts in programmes related to church or religious issues, for example in the media, publishing houses, and in the educational system as teachers of religion and ethics (for a commission to teach, a canonical mission is required by the Catholic Church). |
Characteristics of the study branch |
The follow-up study of theology is understood as a deepening of selected topics that the student has encountered during the bachelor’s study, especially dogmatics, the Bible, ethics and Church history. While the bachelor’s study is focused more on ‘auditus fidei’, i.e., the content of the Christian faith, the subsequent master’s study is understood more as ‘intellectus fidei’, or systematic reflection on this faith. |
