Employment possibilities of the graduate

The graduate of the follow-up master‘s study is competent to perform the functions of a conceptual worker in working with children, youth and other target groups (educational activities, hobby adult education, activation programmes for seniors, etc.) at the local and regional level (relevant departments of state administration and self-government, boards of non-profit organisations, etc.).

Characteristics of the study branch

The graduate of the follow-up master’s study is able to combine theoretical knowledge with the practical application of pedagogical and ethical principles and is able to provide methodological guidance to other pedagogical staff. He is also able to design comprehensive educational programmes that will respond to changes in the lifestyle of today’s people and the increased importance of leisure time. Studying at the Faculty of Theology also places great emphasis on sensitivity to the spiritual dimension of a person’s personality. The research orientation of the branch leads students to understand, in addition to humanities-oriented reflection (philosophy, theology), also the findings of social science research, to be able to interpret them properly and possibly also design and carry out research focused on reflection and improvement in which they work.

The branch of Leisure Education in the Education Programme is implemented at FT USB in such a way as to meet the requirements of Act 563/2004 Coll., On Pedagogical Staff, § 16 and 17. Given that for the performance of the profession of leisure educator, or free time teacher, a professional qualification at the level of bachelor’s study is sufficient, the follow-up master’s study does not have a professional nature, but a deepening nature. While the bachelor’s branch of study qualifies students for direct pedagogical activities, the follow-up master’s study develops conceptual thinking and the ability to reflect on the goals and values of education, opening the possibility of a deeper understanding of the importance of leisure in modern life, especially in terms of sociology, philosophy and theology. The bachelor’s study is, therefore, focused on professional preparation, while the follow-up master’s study is academically oriented.
