New collective monograph in Alber Verlag

The German publishing house Alber Verlag has just published the English-German collective monograph Kant and the Phenomenological Tradition - Kant und die phänomenologische Tradition, published by our department colleague Jakub Sirovátka together with his Pardubice colleague Ondřej Sikora. The core of the book consists of contributions presented at the Autonomy in Dialogue/Autonomie in Dialog conference, held in September 2021 in Prague. The publication is a sort of late collection from a previously resolved GAČR grant. The common theme of the nine essays in this volume is a phenomenological dialogue with Kant and his "invention of autonomy". Does the Kantian concept of autonomy still have any meaning after the intensive development of ethical and phenomenological thinking, which emphasizes the importance of the Other, who by definition escapes any autonomy? What fruitful aspects of Kantian thought still need to be preserved and developed? While the first three contributions are immanently Kantian, most focus on the relationship between Kant and selected authors of the phenomenological tradition: E. Husserl, M. Heidegger, E. Levinas, J. Patočka, and B. Kant. Waldenfels. In the book, you will find contributions from both publishers, as well as from authors from Germany, the USA and Iran.
