Facultyof Theology
The Faculty of Theology was founded in 1991 as a part of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. It builds upon the cultural and educational traditions of the higher theological and philosophical studies in the town which originated in the early nineteenth century.
Theological education in South Bohemia has been connected with the Catholic Diocese of České Budějovice since its beginning in the nineteenth century. Since 1991, the diocesan bishop of České Budějovice has been by statute the moderator of the Faculty of Theology at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, in the Czech Republic.
In its research and teaching activities the Faculty of Theology focuses on theology and philosophy as well as social work and education, where the emphasis is put on the Christian ethical and social values. Applicants can choose from a range of bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes, as well as programmes of lifelong learning.
Faculty graduates are employed both in church organizations aimed at training, educational and cultural activities, as well as in the public sector, especially as social workers in social care and educators at centres for leisure activities.
