Admission procedures

How do I provide proof of my previous education as part of the admission process?

Proof of previous education means:

a) For Bachelor’s degree programs – a secondary school leaving certificate (or a similar document confirming completion of secondary education with a final exam), or, alternatively, a university diploma showing that the student has completed secondary education with a final exam.

b) For follow-up Master’s degree programs – a university diploma confirming successful completion of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral study program.

c) For Doctoral degree programs – a Master’s diploma or other Doctoral diploma.

Is it necessary to provide proof of education if I have already studied at JU?

NO. If you have already completed a study program at JU, it is sufficient to inform the TF JU Study Office in writing, and they will retrieve the document from the JU records.

If I am applying to multiple programs at JU, do I need to provide proof of education for each application?

NO. If you are submitting multiple applications to study at JU, it is sufficient to provide proof of education only once. If you have already submitted an application to another faculty, you only need to inform the TF JU Study Office in writing, and they will request the necessary documents from the relevant faculty.

In what form can previous education be documented in the Czech Republic?

Applicants provide documents confirming their completed education required for enrollment through the electronic application, either by uploading an electronic (PDF) document created through an authorized conversion (available at CzechPOINT, post office, or relevant office) or an electronic document issued by the relevant institution (e.g., an electronic diploma) as an attachment to the electronic application. Attachments that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

WARNING: A simple scan of a diploma or secondary school leaving certificate is not sufficient!

Also remember to provide, if applicable: a document confirming a name change (e.g., a marriage certificate if your diploma shows your maiden name), a power of attorney (if someone else is handling your previous education documents), or a decision granting international protection (if replacing documents with a sworn statement).

By when must previous education be documented?

  • Applicants for Bachelor’s programs: If applicants have a secondary school leaving certificate, it must be provided by 10 April 2026. In exceptional cases, the deadline for submitting the secondary school leaving certificate is 15 September 2026.
  • Applicants for follow-up Master’s programs: If applicants have a university diploma, it must be provided by 10 April 2026. In exceptional cases, the deadline for submitting the diploma is 15 September 2026. NOTE: Assessment of the suitability of the completed Bachelor’s field or program by the program guarantors is one of the conditions necessary for admission to a follow-up Master’s program. Information required for this assessment must be provided no later than 20 April 2026.

The relevant date is the date of delivery, not the date of sending.

What should I do if I have foreign secondary education?

The assessment of foreign secondary education for applicants to TF JU programs follows Rector’s Measure No. 450 on assessing fulfillment of previous education requirements for study applicants.

If you have completed a foreign, international, or European secondary school, you must provide:

a) a European Baccalaureate certificate, or
b) a foreign document of secondary education that entitles the holder to access higher education in that foreign country.

Secondary education documents from Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia are valid in the Czech Republic as if issued by Czech schools, i.e., a notarized copy is sufficient.

Requirements for verification of secondary education documents from other countries differ depending on whether these countries have joined certain international treaties. Detailed information can be found [here].

If you have a nostrified secondary school certificate or diploma, you may submit a document of general recognition of foreign secondary or higher education in the Czech Republic.

If you request TF JU to assess a foreign document, a fee of 700 CZK must be paid on the day the document is submitted for assessment.

What should I do if I have foreign higher education?

The assessment of foreign higher education for applicants to TF JU programs follows Rector’s Measure No. 450 on assessing fulfillment of previous education requirements for study applicants.

If you have completed a foreign university, you must provide a foreign document of higher education. Higher education documents concerning education issued in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia are valid in the Czech Republic in the same way as documents from Czech schools, i.e., an officially verified copy is enough.

University diplomas from Germany are considered equivalent in the Czech Republic according to its international obligations (however, the German secondary school certificate must still be assessed), i.e., a notarized copy is sufficient.

Requirements for verification of higher education documents from other countries differ depending on whether these countries have joined certain international treaties. Detailed information can be found [here].

If you have a nostrified diploma, you may submit a document of general recognition of foreign secondary or higher education in the Czech Republic.

If you request TF JU to assess a foreign document, a fee of 700 CZK must be paid on the day the document is submitted for assessment.
