Dr. Tomáš Cyril Havel in Rome

An exhibition on the life of Blessed Richard Henkes is taking place in Rome until November 19, 2022. "The legacy of the life story of a priest working in Strahovice in Silesia is still very relevant today. He clearly identified the ideological stench of Nazism and publicly spoke out against it. In the end, he ended up in Dachau, where he died while serving the sick." Tomáš Cyril Havel, a colleague from our faculty, summed up at the opening of the exhibition in the German Pilgrim Center. "Even today we face situations where we play with the truth and thanks to social networks we are very vulnerable to the possibility of succumbing to lies and half-truths."

The graphic document about Henkes' life published for his beatification in German, which has also just been published in the Czech version (published by Petrinum), was also given to Pope Francis. "He was pleased, and I think it was also a great satisfaction for Martin Rambo from the Limburg diocese, who strongly advocated for the whole project", added Tomáš C. Havel, who handed it over to the Pope together with him.

"We will try to bring the exhibition about Henkes' life to the Czech Republic. It has a significant educational potential," notes the religious pedagogue Havel.
