In April and May, Dr Michal Opatrný is the visiting professor at Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky, U.S.A. The internship takes place within the framework of the TAČR project Postgraduate Education of Social Workers in the Field of Spirituality in Social Work in Services for the Elderly.
„In addition to studying the topic of spirituality in social work, thanks to the great friendliness and hospitality of colleagues from the Marilyn Younger Conley School of Social Work, I can also participate in classes and lifelong learning courses. This is a very valuable experience for me,” says Dr Opatrný about your internship program.
Brescia University offers education in theology, social work or pedagogy, similar to the Faculty of Theology of the JU. „The Caritas Center also operates here. It is a workplace dealing with caritas, similar to our Department of Social and Caritas Work or the Center for Diaconic Theology. The colleagues here are therefore very interested in the European understanding of caritas, our research topics in the social and caritas work field, and topics from the social policy in EU and the Czech Republic,” adds Dr Opatrný.
