About the programme

Bachelor´s Study Programme of Leisure Education. It is designed as a professionally oriented pedagogical study, focusing on applications in leisure activities, informal education, and extracurricular learning. Graduates acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to plan and conduct leisure and interest-based activities for diverse target groups - from pre-school children to senior citizens. Emphasis is placed on personal development, cultivating the dispositions necessary for pedagogical action in open-ended situations, and the ability to reflect on such actions. Graduates will gain qualification as a youth worker, leisure educator and teaching assistant, in accordance with the Act on Educational Staff

Programme structure

The aim of the programme is to develop the knowledge, skills, and general competences necessary for effective pedagogical practice. The study plan combines both theoretical preparation (especially in pedagogy and psychology) and methodological and practical training. An introduction to leisure education is offered in the form of an experiential introductory course, designed to help students adapt and engage through practical learning.
The core of the programme consists of pedagogical internships focused on working with various target groups - from pre-school children to seniors. These internships take place both in institutions (e.g. after-school clubs, homes for the elderly) and in outdoor or stay-in programmes (such as day camps and summer camps for more days).
During the first year, you will gain an overview of the methodological areas in which you can further develop your skills. In the second and third years, you will choose from a range of professionally oriented courses and two methodological specialisations:
Elective Block I - Professional Orientation: Students select courses worth at least 10 credits according to their professional interests (for example, Museum Education, Memory Training for Seniors, or Theory and Practice of the Prison System).
Elective Block II - Methodological Specialisation I: It is focused on art, music, or literary education (minimum of 15 credits).
Elective Block III - Methodological Specialization II: It is focused on experiential education, personal and social development education, or reflection on religious values in education (minimum of 15 credits).
The methodological and practical preparation culminates in the Final Project, a course, which provides space for interdisciplinary collaboration across specialisations and for implementing one?s own project in practice.
In accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the USB, students may also choose elective courses offered by the Faculty of Theology or other faculties of the university.
