Employment possibilities of the graduate

The branch of Leisure Education in the programme of Education is implemented at FT USB to meet the requirements of Act 563/2004 Coll., On Pedagogical Staff, § 16 and 17. The graduate of the bachelor’s study is qualified to perform the profession of an educator, leisure educator, instructor of hobby education, etc. The graduate can be employed in a school (school club, club, etc.) and out-of-school leisure facilities (leisure centres, children’s and youth homes, youth centres, citizens' associations, church organisations, etc.), or as a leisure educator in institutions providing social services (homes for the elderly, low-threshold facilities, etc.).

Characteristics of the study branch

The graduate of the bachelor’s study will gain knowledge and skills to participate in the planning and implementation of hobby activities with varied groups of children and youth (or adults, seniors – according to their choice of deepening specialisations), and the ability to reflect the value bases of pedagogical behaviour. He/she will also be able to implement simple research providing feedback on pedagogical practice (e.g., action and evaluation research, etc.). From the point of view of the National Qualification Framework for Tertiary Education, the study programme Education and the branch Leisure Education fall into the area of so-called non-teaching pedagogy. It is a branch with a theoretical-methodological, empirical-research and practical mission. In this respect, part of the Leisure Education study branch is theoretical preparation, especially in the field of pedagogy and psychology, and also in fields inextricably linked with the mission of the Faculty of Theology, i.e., with the bases of philosophical and theological anthropology and ethics, from which grows the value framework of the development of future educators; methodological-research preparation leading to the obligatory completion of a bachelor’s thesis; methodological and practical preparation connecting the theoretical basis with subjects of methodological specialisations (aesthetic education, experiential personality formation, Philosophy for Children and reflection of religious values in education) and subjects of ‘professional orientation’ according to the interest and further course of the student.
