We are bringing to you this year's first issue of Caritas et veritas, devoted to the 50th anniversary of the promulgation of the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World by the Second Vatican Council. At first sight it may seem that this topic does not fit in well with our journal's profile – it is perhaps too historical, too churchly, and on the other hand there is not enough social scientific and humanities orientation in it.
